FreshFix is now offering half-price membership and deliveries to residents of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC) Community. This project was funded by BNMC Spark, a micro-grant program of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, Inc. (BNMC), designed to showcase creative ideas and strategies to support stakeholders within the neighborhoods surrounding the BNMC. The goal of this program is to make fresh local produce more affordable and convenient for residents in neighborhoods with limited access to healthy food retail options.
Anyone who lives within the designated BNMC neighborhood (see map on right) is eligible for a half-price box. While we do not require any income verification, please keep in mind that there are a limited number of half-price boxes available. This program is designed for community members who would otherwise not have been able to become a FreshFix member. Please note that deliveries to offices are within the BNMC neighborhood are not eligible for the discount.
If you are interested in receiving a half-price box, please fill out this form. We will be accepting customers on a rolling basis until all spots are filled. After that point, you will be placed on a waiting list. The initial pilot program will last for 18 weeks. After that time, continued participation in the program will be funding dependent.
We currently only accept debit or credit cards on our website. If you want to sign up and pay for your deliveries using EBT (SNAP program participants), we will need to arrange for you to swipe your EBT card when we drop off your box.
We are currently working with our nonprofit partner, Community Nutrition Partnership, to raise money to offer more half-price boxes. If you fill out this form, we will contact you when we are able to deliver half-price boxes to more neighborhoods. Another way to earn free produce is by becoming a FreshFix coordinator. Coordinators dedicate a few hours a week to spread the word about FreshFix and deliver boxes to their neighbors. Please e-mail us for more information about becoming a community coordinator.
You can help by adding a donation to your delivery. You can choose to pay half the price of a box (e.g., purchase a community-supported box) or even just donate a few dollars to support the half-price program. If you need to skip a week of your deliveries, you might consider donating your box instead.
